Vincent Graphic Inspired

White and black invitations are definitely my favorites. Don't get me wrong, I love color, but there is something so formal and classic, yet modern and chic about black and white.

When Kacey and I started talking about the design, she told me "our venue is an arts center. Simple, clean lines, architecturally very modern. Our centerpieces are monochromatic, all hot pink roses tightly packed together, black table cloths. The table numbers with the graphic on them are going to be the only "design" or pattern on the table. I guess that's why I want it to be just right. I want the graphic to give the table a little 'warmth' since everything else is very clean, simple, modern."

Our focus turned to wallpaper graphics of all things. :) She found an awesome graphic that took a ton of editing, but was so worth it.

The inserts were wrapped with thin black satin ribbon in this pretty woven design. The RSVP card has the same bold flower design and includes this pretty monogram.

And these are the table numbers for the "warmth" that Kacey was looking for. :)

Tim Burton Inspired Wedding

These invitations were so much fun to design. Jennifer, from It's a Shore Thing, sent Brittnie to me because of their amazing location and theme - a creepy enchanted forest! Brittnie described it to me as Tim Burton designing a wedding for the Wicked Witch from Snow White. The wedding will take place amongst trees hanging with Spanish Moss and chandeliers in the trees!

I designed these custom pocketfolds with a gate motif and crows.

The front of the pocketfold was designed with a gate that has their names in the wrought iron.

Backside of the pocketfold

I layered her oversized rsvp cards with deep plum and silver and put a crow sitting on the response line.

And the purple rsvp envelopes are accented with wrought iron on the flap and a crown sitting on the word Florida.

The outer envelopes are silver with more wrought iron and custom stamps.

Modern Art and Damask Inspired

I know I say this all of the time (maybe all of my invites are my favorite :) ), but I'm in love with this set. Valerie is having a black and fuschia damask wedding at the Modern Art Wing at the Art Institute of Chicago.

I created a new invitation for this suite - a square gatefold with slits to hold her inserts and removable invitation.

The RSVP card was designed with a faded damask background that would peek out when held by the pink damask sash.

Love the hot pink and black damask envelopes

When closed, the sash wraps around the invitation to close the invitation.

Wedding Invitations Planning Tip

Choosing your wedding invitations is an important step in planning your wedding. For most of your friends and family, the invitation that you send is the first part of your perfect wedding that they will experience.

The wedding invitation that you choose should be a careful choice that is a reflection of the wedding to come. The important factors to consider when making your selection of wedding invitations are the type of paper that it will be printed on, the colors used, the style, any decorative elements, and the overall impression.

Most wedding invitations are going to be made with a fairly heavy paper. Heavier paper tends to convey an impression of richness and importance, and this is an important occasion. The complex range of choices beyond that can be bewildering and overwhelming, and we lovingly recommend that you just remember to breathe through one choice at a time. You may want to start by simply choosing the paper for the invitations and ignore the other aspects until you do.

Once you've chosen your paper, you can then move on to the extensive number of choices you'll have available to you in the way the paper is designed, whether it's a placard framed within a tri-fold card, or a vellum insert, or the thousand and one other choices you'll have available to you.

The colors of your invitations should be a reflection of the overall color scheme of your wedding. Most brides tend to choose wedding invitations in the more traditional colors, partly because of the cost that used to be involved, and used their color scheme from the wedding for accents in the typewritten text or the decorative elements.

Also in keeping with the overall scheme of your wedding is the style of invitation. Wedding invitations don't have to be a formal, starchy, crisp linen stock anymore. No matter what the style or theme of your wedding may be, any printer will be happy to work you and if their existing styles aren't in keeping with your wedding, they'll happily customize for you. Want a cowboy boot shaped invitation? No problem.

You'll have a wide variety of decorative elements to pick from, as well. You may want a small ribbon accent, an insert suitable as a souvenir, or perhaps you want to use a photo of the happy couple.

With the current state of computer technology you even have the choice to print your own at home. With scrap booking being such a popular hobby these days, your local scrap booking store is a wonderful place to shop for supplies and unique decorative elements for your wedding invitations. It might even be a wonderful opportunity to have a scrap booking style party to craft your wedding invitations. You could make a small collection of decorative items available and allow your guests free rein in how they use their own creativity to apply them. While they're there, you could even have them design the envelopes. Pop them in the mail, and each guest has a unique, one of a kind invitation on their way to them.

All of these factors come together in creating the overall impression. The overall impression should be one that's in keeping with the overall theme of your wedding. The invitation is setting the stage for your big day and is the herald of what your guests can expect from your wedding.

Wedding Invitations

Whenever anyone decides to get married, one of the most important decisions is which guests are going to be invited to the various celebrations. For people to know that they are invited to your wedding ceremony, they will need to receive an invitation.

Wedding invitations are no longer a simple card in the post; they are a vital part of the wedding theme and without careful thought can really dent your budget and leave guests confused.

Wedding Invitations – The Basics

Wedding invitations must, essentially tell your guests the vital information such as where, when and the format of the event. Don’t get wrapped up in the detail and forget to tell the guests the date and location!

Be clear with your wedding invitations as to exactly what type of event your guests are being invited to. Is the event an informal affair with no particular dress code, or is it a party celebration that requires certain attire. By making this clear on your wedding invitations, you will save yourself many hours on the phone explaining the nature of your wedding; this will prevent any red faces on the day.

Make it clear exactly what will be included, can guests expect a full meal or will there be a buffet? If your wedding ceremony is taking place at a separate location to the reception, will transport be provided and what time does each ‘part’ of the day start.

Reply Style Wedding Invitations

A great way to find out the exact numbers that you can expect to attend is to create wedding invitations with an integral reply section. The reply can be a simple yes or no, however it may also be worth finding out more information such as whether there are any special dietary requirements or whether accommodation / transport is required.

Wedding invitations can be used, not only to provide a lot of information but also to receive information. As part of your wedding invitations you can also include information such as maps or details about the surrounding area. This is particularly important, as many guests use attending a wedding as an opportunity to have a short break, so include some interesting brochures.

Wedding Invitations – Clever Ideas

With weddings becoming increasingly expensive, the choice of wedding invitations can provide you with the perfect opportunity to save money, big time. If your guests are technologically able, why not go online? You could even set up a website with all of the relevant information and the option to reply online. If you choose this approach, make sure that you have the necessary security and passwords so that you don’t inadvertently invite the whole world!

Wedding invitations do not have to be elaborate; in fact a homemade version with a personal picture can be far more effective and a lot cheaper. Get a third person, who does not know the details of your wedding to proof read the wedding invitations to ensure that you haven’t missed out anything vital.

Finally, make sure you send your wedding invitations out in plenty of time for your guests to respond.

Wedding Shower Cards and Shower Invitations Wedding

Planning a wedding shower isn't an easy task. However, it can be an even greater challenge, if you don't know the traditional etiquette for these events before you start sending out the cheap wedding shower cards. Here's some tips and suggestions to keep in mind when preparing for this great pre-wedding celebration.

Who Sends the Wedding Shower Cards?

The person who is usually put in charge of this event is the maid or matron of honor. Since this is the person who is closest to the bride, she gets the honor of having the extra responsibility. That doesn't mean she has to go it alone. The entire bridal party is expected to assist in putting together a phenomenal shower. Sometimes, however, someone other than the maid of honor needs to be put in charge. For example, if she lives far away or doesn't have the money or can't spare the time to mail shower invitations wedding. In that case, it's fine to choose an alternative.

Usually, you'll want to send invitations wedding shower out about eight to ten weeks before the actual wedding. That's because the traditional time for the ceremony is four to six weeks before the wedding. You don't want to go any closer than that. Remember the bride is going to be swamped with her own responsibilities, as will most of the bridal party, during those last days so having a party then wouldn't be a good idea.

Who Gets unique Wedding Shower Invites?

The guest list is an important question. While the temptation may be to throw a huge celebration with lots of people so the bride gets a lot of gifts and so no one she has ever known ends up excluded, etiquette and tradition dictate a much smaller affair. No more than 20 guests should receive bridal shower wedding invitations. Those who make the guest list should include the entire wedding party, the mothers of the couple, the sisters of the couple, and close friends of the bride. Close female friends of the groom can also be invited if the bride gives her approval.

One of the biggest misconceptions some people have about the guest list is that every woman who is invited to the wedding should also be receiving invitations for wedding showers. That is simply not the case. In fact, some guests would find the double invite as just a way to receive double the gifts. You're better off keeping the guest list brief so that your event can be smaller, more intimate, and more relaxed.

Who Helps with the Wedding Shower Cards?

Although the maid of honor is chiefly responsible for the event, no one should be left out. Each member of the wedding party, except the junior bridesmaids and flower girls, should be given a task to handle for the preparations. For example, one bridesmaid might need to secure the refreshments while another might be in charge of getting the bride to the event on time. The mothers of the couple should also be given a job so they do not feel left out of the preparations. Maybe one could be responsible for mailing the discount wedding shower cards while the other manages the RSVP cards. When everyone works together, the event is sure to be fun and memorable.

Vintage Luggage Tag Save the Dates

I had a blast working on these vintage luggage tags with Nicole. The wedding will be at The Balsams Resort in New Hampshire and is a destination wedding for most of her guests. The wedding will be vintage and I suggested luggage tags. The front has a tree and a bird and the back was made to look like a luggage tag with typewriter fonts.

Rachel + Alexander: Damask Wedding Invitations

Damask is just as popular this year as it was last year. Rachel wanted damask invitations in their color scheme, black and purple. It's always a challenge to make damask invitations look different when I do so many. For Rachel's suite, I put a monogram in purple inside the damask.

The inserts were bundled with lots of purple ribbon.

The RSVP has lots of information on it, including when the guests will arrive in town.

Matching damask accommodations card.

The outer envelopes are textured and gorgeous with machine calligraphy and custom stamps.
