Wedding Invitations Planning Tip

Choosing your wedding invitations is an important step in planning your wedding. For most of your friends and family, the invitation that you send is the first part of your perfect wedding that they will experience.

The wedding invitation that you choose should be a careful choice that is a reflection of the wedding to come. The important factors to consider when making your selection of wedding invitations are the type of paper that it will be printed on, the colors used, the style, any decorative elements, and the overall impression.

Most wedding invitations are going to be made with a fairly heavy paper. Heavier paper tends to convey an impression of richness and importance, and this is an important occasion. The complex range of choices beyond that can be bewildering and overwhelming, and we lovingly recommend that you just remember to breathe through one choice at a time. You may want to start by simply choosing the paper for the invitations and ignore the other aspects until you do.

Once you've chosen your paper, you can then move on to the extensive number of choices you'll have available to you in the way the paper is designed, whether it's a placard framed within a tri-fold card, or a vellum insert, or the thousand and one other choices you'll have available to you.

The colors of your invitations should be a reflection of the overall color scheme of your wedding. Most brides tend to choose wedding invitations in the more traditional colors, partly because of the cost that used to be involved, and used their color scheme from the wedding for accents in the typewritten text or the decorative elements.

Also in keeping with the overall scheme of your wedding is the style of invitation. Wedding invitations don't have to be a formal, starchy, crisp linen stock anymore. No matter what the style or theme of your wedding may be, any printer will be happy to work you and if their existing styles aren't in keeping with your wedding, they'll happily customize for you. Want a cowboy boot shaped invitation? No problem.

You'll have a wide variety of decorative elements to pick from, as well. You may want a small ribbon accent, an insert suitable as a souvenir, or perhaps you want to use a photo of the happy couple.

With the current state of computer technology you even have the choice to print your own at home. With scrap booking being such a popular hobby these days, your local scrap booking store is a wonderful place to shop for supplies and unique decorative elements for your wedding invitations. It might even be a wonderful opportunity to have a scrap booking style party to craft your wedding invitations. You could make a small collection of decorative items available and allow your guests free rein in how they use their own creativity to apply them. While they're there, you could even have them design the envelopes. Pop them in the mail, and each guest has a unique, one of a kind invitation on their way to them.

All of these factors come together in creating the overall impression. The overall impression should be one that's in keeping with the overall theme of your wedding. The invitation is setting the stage for your big day and is the herald of what your guests can expect from your wedding.
